We all start with the best intentions, yet most people find it challenging to achieve their goals. Recent research by Dr. Michelle Rozen* reveals that only 6% of individuals follow through to reach their goals, with 50% abandoning them within the first six months. As striking as they are, these numbers highlight a key challenge for local government: executing strategy.
If individuals struggle to accomplish personal goals, it stands to reason that implementing an organisational strategic plan—relying on the efforts of dozens or even hundreds of people—presents an even greater challenge.
Strategic plans often extend over several years, involve teams from multiple departments, and can easily be derailed by competing priorities.
So, how do we set up for success?
We need to establish clear priorities, create actionable plans, assign roles and responsibilities with defined timelines, and ensure cross-departmental collaboration.
Envisio is designed to help the local government put plans into action and achieve their most critical goals – essentially, get the work done. The team has recently introduced a new, personalised Envisio Workspace for each user, making it easier for everyone involved in your organisation’s plans and projects to stay organised and focused on what truly matters.
The new Envisio Workspace helps you:
Easily see your organisation’s active plans and projects and their overall progress
Get a bird’s eye view across individual and departmental plans requiring updates
Stay on top of updating plans and project progress, so organisational progress reports and performance dashboards are always up to date
Quickly access your most visited places, such as specific reports and dashboards, to get faster answers and work more efficiently.
The Envisio Workspace – Helping to make a meaningful impact in your community
Let’s walk through a typical use case of how Envisio Workspaces make it easy to get things done quickly.
Once you log into Envisio, you can instantly see your workspace.
Under the My Starred section, you can look at the overall progress of your strategic plan.
With 60% progress, it looks like you are slightly off your expected progress of 72% for this time period. However, you can also see that only 18/24 updates are complete, and once you hit 100% update completion, your progress should be closer to what is expected.
You can then easily complete your progress updates!
With the “Plans Pending Update” dropdown, you can switch between a Personal View and a Department View. The Personal View helps you quickly complete your updates, while the Department View showcases a team-wide overview, making sending friendly reminders to others easy.
As a user, you own goals, strategies and initiatives within the strategic plan–and with the help of AI Assist, making updates has never been easier. As an organisational leader, AI Assist summarises action-level updates to create a comprehensive strategy-level update in under two minutes.
You can also see that the two projects you’re working on recommend updates, and one is linked to the strategic plan. That means the progress update for that project also impacts the strategic plan progress. Simply go into those cards and quickly update your progress.
Highlight your updates and showcase your progress.
Once progress updates are complete, you can see how your department updates will be reflected in the Strategic Plan Progress Report. Under My Subscribed Reports, you can open the generated report in one click.
The report offers a clear, concise snapshot of progress across each strategic priority.
Finally, the exciting part - seeing how it looks on your public-facing dashboard!
Public dashboard updates provide the transparency the public needs to understand how leaders are making an impact in the community. These updates help everyone understand how your work directly impacts the communities' quality of life.
